Deer Dreams

You Wouldn't Know It- but this was a special day. I had been hanging out with the deer on a plateau behind my house for awhile, getting just a little bit closer each time I went out. They kept their eyes on me to begin with but eventually their body languaged changed... they relaxed.

I'd walk up the hill, they'd look up for a second, then dip their heads back down to chomp on some more cactus. 

This day was a little different. This buck was the only deer on the hill. We watched each other for awhile; me, sitting on a chunk of Colorado Pink Granite and the majestic buck laying down for some rest. 

He dropped his head and seemed to doze off for just a minute. The sense of calm in that moment was indescribable...
